Quiet strength. Ready laughter. A gentle presence that made every room feel like home.
On 19th August 2025, our beloved Gertrude Viola Gumbs slipped peacefully into rest, leaving us richer for the love she gave and the example she set.

Born 8th May 1944, Sister Gertrude lived a life stitched together by faith, family, and service. She was the kind of woman who remembered everyone’s favorite meal, who prayed first and spoke kindly, who chose gratitude even on hard days. If you knew her, you knew what grace in motion looked like.

A Life Well Lived

Gertrude’s legacy isn’t only in dates and milestones—it’s in the way she showed up. She believed in humility, hospitality, and the simple ministry of being present. Whether she was encouraging a friend, cooking for a neighbor, or offering a wise word after church, she left people better than she found them. That’s a holy kind of influence.

How We’ll Remember Her

  • For the way she made space at the table—and in her heart.
  • For quiet courage in difficult seasons.
  • For the steady, enduring faith that carried her—and now comforts us.

As we grieve, we also give thanks. Her race was well run; her rest is well earned. May her memory steady our steps and soften our words. May we love as generously as she did.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” — Psalm 116:15
