Road Town, Virgin Islands — September 9, 2025 — The Premier’s Office has confirmed the appointment of Mrs. Karia J. Christopher as Director of Communications, following a successful rotation in the role.
In her new capacity, Mrs. Christopher will assist with policy development, coordinate cross-ministry communications to advance the Government’s Legislative Agenda, and serve as Press Secretary for the Government of the Virgin Islands—ensuring consistent, standards-based messaging across all official channels.
Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office, Mrs. Carolyn Stoutt Igwe, said, “I welcome the appointment of Mrs. Christopher. She has done extensive work during her rotation period and I am confident that she will continue to grow in the role as she works to improve communications across the Public Service.”
Mrs. Christopher said of her appointment, “It is a pleasure to serve the people of the Virgin Islands in this capacity. I look forward to strengthening our communication efforts, ensuring that Government’s messaging is clear, transparent, and accessible, while fostering greater engagement with the public as we advance the Government’s Legislative Agenda.”
Mrs. Christopher brings extensive public-sector experience, having served as Director of Trade, Investment Promotion and Consumer Affairs, Sister Islands Programme Coordinator, and Chief Administrative Officer at the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission.
She holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration and Management and an M.Sc. in Human Resources Management, with a certification in Organisational Change. Her professional credentials include an Accreditation in Public Relations from the Public Relations Society of America, Speech Writing and Mass Communication Certification, and Advanced Public Speaking Certification.
